Example of a basic contact form
Here’s a very basic contact form we see a lot.
In a world where everyone wants their information faster, why would you have a contact form from 1996 on your website?
One word we like to use around here is efficiency. How can you make a contact form more efficient?
The idea is to get as much information from a potential customer about their query without excess.
Here’s a guideline of what we want our contact forms to display. These are proven to have a higher engagement rate.
Custom contact forms come in other forms such as booking appointment forms, eCommerce selection, surveys, quizzes and polls. Take a look at Webbage’s portfolio and see which custom forms we’ve created you can see.
Let’s take a look at two different contact forms:
Here’s a very basic contact form we see a lot.
So what’s wrong with this? Quite simply there is not anything wrong with it, it’s just not as efficient. This (unfortunately) is the most common contact form you will find, and the business will find themselves needing to contact the customer for more information.
A customer will find themselves writing what they feel you as a business needs to know. This could be a short story or it could be three words. This usually leads to reasking the customer what they actually want.
Viewing this a customer will feel disconnected. This form has not asked them any questions in relation to your business. For this reason, customers tend to be vague or over complicate their enquiry.
Being too simple a customer will just fill in the form knowing it will take time for you to get back. Meanwhile, they will be searching elsewhere for a company that has a more immediate answer.
The customer wants you to understand them before they even talk to you. A business should already know a rough reason why the form is needed.
Here’s a custom contact form we designed specifically for a Tree Surgeon.
A clear difference in the Custom contact form. Does this look like a contact form that understand their customer’s needs?
The benefits of this design:
This makes it easy for a customer to fill in without thinking.
Just by clicking through the options it has a clear purpose. The options also give the ability to interest a customer in other services.
The ability for both parties to understand the information means a higher success rate of the end result.
The questions and answers are conditional, it makes it extremely hard for a customer to go off-topic.
The nature of the contact form gives a clear idea of the business. The business itself is therefore viewed as a professional on the basis it understands the reason the customer in enquiring.
Contact forms are a great way to capture information. If you are interested in adding this to your current website or any of our other services – just fill out the form below. We would love to meet up over a drink!
